Our Story
Founded in 2005, Alpha60 takes its name from Jean-Luc Godard’s 1965 sci-fi classic Alphaville, and since then, has become a defining force in Australian fashion. With a fresh perspective on timeless styles and cuts, we’re known for our signature designs that are both modern and effortlessly elegant.
Proudly independent, Alpha60 continues to flourish from our creative hub in Collingwood, staying true to our roots while ensuring our direct-to-consumer approach keeps our pieces high quality yet accessible.
As we celebrate 2025, we mark 21 years since opening our first Alpha60 store on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, where we began with little more than big ideas, a sledgehammer, and each other.
But Alpha60 wasn’t our first venture together. As kids, we ran a lemonade stand at Mum and Dad’s nursery, quickly learning there was a much stronger demand for champagne and orange juice than for lemonade. Adapting swiftly to our new "business model," we started serving mimosas to our customers, and our little stall became a hit. That was the spark that ignited our passion for retail.
Though we’ve grown a lot since those early days, that same passion drives us every day—bringing us to work with a smile and a sense of excitement.

Our Inspiration
Alpha60 draws much of its inspiration from the world of film and art, blending cinematic aesthetics with interesting design. The brand’s founders have long been fascinated by the strong visual narratives found in films and contemporary art, particularly the way these mediums challenge traditional forms and push boundaries. Drawing on the surreal and often unconventional imagery seen in classic and modern cinema, Alpha60’s designs embody a sense of mystery and bold creativity. The brand’s collections often reflect an artistic vision that evokes emotion and tells a story, merging fashion with visual culture to create pieces that feel both timeless and thought-provoking.
We are incredibly grateful to have collaborated with some of Australia’s most talented artists, including Kathy Temin, Mikala Dwyer, Brendan Huntley, and Patricia Piccinini. These partnerships have allowed us to merge the worlds of fashion and fine art in truly unique ways. Working with such visionary artists has not only influenced our design process but also deepened our appreciation for the ways in which art can inspire and shape fashion. Each collaboration has been a celebration of creativity, pushing the boundaries of what fashion can be and how it intersects with the broader art world.
